SKETCH#5 - Oct 29th 2009 -

"Sketch" is an evening of live sketching and art making and offers the local arts community a place to congregate, talk, create and be seen, with the request for artists to simply drop in, register and start creating.

The registration fee is AED 40 and all basic materials needed for the event will be provided. NEW price structure for art – all prices now restricted between AED10 – AED150

The final work(s) will be put up for sale on the walls of The JamJar as and when the artist has completed their piece – and the artists are encouraged to produce as many pieces as they wish throughout the evening. The end result being that the art is instantly made more accessible to attending customers and by individually pricing each piece, making them independently affordable and attainable.

This event offers patrons and art lovers an opportunity to see local artists at work and get acquainted with them on a personal and interactive level – as well as it being an ideal way for artists and designers to meet each other in a social environment and be inspired by each others creative process.

All art created at the event is for sale and will be displayed until the event closes.

Fn looks forward to seeing as many art lovers as possible in attendance at the ‘Sketch’ event, to support the idea and the artists alike. This art-social event promises to be the next big art-driven event in Dubai.

Quick Update

There will be no SKETCH during the Holy month of Ramadan, we will still be at the studio preparing for upcoming events and products produced by FN Designs. SKETCH #4 will take place on the 24th of September.

Thanks to all who showed up at SKETCH#3 - we had a blast - the art work was amazing, the room was filled with energy and the music was great. Yet another great night - live art and live music, the place was buzzing with creativity. Art works were being plastered on the walls of the jamjar and many were being sold. Once again the feedback was awesome, we all had a great time. Artists from SKETCH #1 came back and made new art for SKETCH#2, as well as some new guests, thanks once again for making it happen.

SKETCH #2

Note to artists: Participating artists are encouraged to bring their own materials if they have any specialist requirements. We would like to bring to your attention that SKETCH #2 will not include painting of any kind; including watercolour and acrylic paint, due to the length of time that it requires for the paint to dry – thus affecting the concept of Sketch – that being instantaneous availability of art. We would appreciate your understanding in this regard.

In order to serve you better, SKETCH will now be split into two time slots – artists in attendance from 5pm – 10pm, and patrons and customers invited to come and participate from 8pm – 10pm.

SKETCH - May 28th 2009 -

So after a quick month of planing and deliberation , the first "Sketch" event was held at the jamjar, and it was quite an impressive turn out, considering the fact that most of our PR was done in less than a week and majority of it was done only through facebook. We had over 40 artists turn up , working on different mediums , chruning out works one after the other by the hour. An over all of about 15 pieces were sold that night , and the energy present amongst the artists was one to cherish and witness in person.

The feedback we've gotten from the patrons were of a positive note, and hopefully the next "Sketch" night to be held on 18th june 2009 , will end up being a riot of new works and more sales and a lot more turn out.

All in all , the night was a pretty good one and we're glad to say that we've made our small dent in the local art scene, give it sometime and we'll for sure break through and cement our position in the scene. We hope to see you all at the next "Sketch" .

The registration fee is AED 30 and all basic materials needed for the event will be provided (pens, markers, papers, watercolors, acrylic, etc). Participating artists are encouraged to bring their own materials if they wish to do so if they have any specialist requirements.

The final work(s) will be put up for sale on the walls of The JamJar as and when the artist has completed their piece – and the artists are encouraged to produce as many pieces as they wish throughout the evening. The end result being that the art is instantly made more accessible to attending customers and by individually pricing each piece, making them independently affordable and attainable.

The price of each will be priced by the artist between AED 50- AED 500, and neither Fn nor The JamJar will take any percentage of the final sales from the artists, given that the event is designed to help local artists to gain a wider exposure in the ever-expanding local art scene, and also to further promote the idea of affordable art. "Sketch" is an innovative, affordable and interactive way to expand your art collection as well as exposing and supporting new up-and-coming talent in the region.
